Artist: Nellie Ryan

Nellie developed a love for illustrating from a young age. Growing up in New Zealand she was raised on a healthy diet of coloured pencils, endless amounts of drawing paper and chocolate. Nellie moved to London after graduating with a degree in Visual Communication in 1998. She started her career producing quirky watercolour paintings and then working as a fashion designer for Jasper Conran, which enabled her to focus on her drawing style and fashion direction.

In 2004 Nellie joined the Eye Candy team where she is happily embarking on her third year of illustrating, working on a variety of projects, combing her love of drawing, painting and fashion. Scouring carboot sales and markets, she collects weird and wonderful books and random bits and pieces that continue to inspire her.

One of Nellie's most recent projects has been illustrating a complete drawing book for girls, called Beautiful Doodles which she found an exciting challenge.
