Nellie developed a love for illustrating from a young age. Growing up in New
Zealand she was raised on a healthy diet of coloured pencils, endless
amounts of drawing paper and chocolate. Nellie moved to London after graduating
with a degree in Visual Communication in 1998.
Nellie started her career producing quirky watercolour paintings and then working
as a fashion designer for Jasper Conran, which enabled her to focus on
her drawing style and fashion direction.
In 2004 Nellie joined the Eye Candy team where she is happily working on a variety
of projects, combining her love of drawing, painting and fashion. Scouring carboot
sales and markets, she collects weird and wonderful books and random bits and pieces
that continue to inspire her.
Recent projects include the illustration of several books : Beautiful Doodles
(both author and illustrator) selling over 130,000 copies throughout
Europe, US, Turkey, China, Lithuania and Australia. This was followed by
the popular ‘Fabulous Doodles’ and ‘Designer Doodles’. As well as
‘The Girls’ Book of Glamour’, Book covers for Penguin and Harper Collins
Publishers, various magazine editorial illustrations and hordings for a
London business development. She also researches and designs for UK
based trend forecasting company World Global Style Network, creating
seasonal illustrations and graphics. |
